Session 6 - Around the World - April 16th
Design of Session:
Around the
world drill. Hull, L. (2014). 1.Two
players line up on other ends of the key, starting closest to the rim. 2) If you
shoot and make the shot, advance to the next spot, wait for the other player to
shoot before you make your next shot. (check appendix to see diagram of drill)
This session will follow a distributed practice design influenced by Foxon, F. (2001). which provides more frequent and longer rest intervals between practice periods (waiting for opposing player to shoot). Distributed practice also facilitates longer term learning and retention, and reduces the effect of fatigue and boredom. Perfect for a beginner and novice like myself

- Being a competitive game between a friend and I, the objective was to win the game, not could the percentage of shooting
- My friend won 4 out 7 games.
- Drill went for about 20-25 minutes
- No fatigue caused
Reflection:
Hull, L. (2014) mentioned the enjoyment of this drill. He was correct,
to me this drill was very enjoyable, the competitiveness allowed me to be more
focused. It caused me to mentally rehearse each shot, as I am waiting for my
turn to shoot. I think this is a more appropriate drill compared to the last
session, as this was much more suited for a cognitive learning person. The time
given to practice my form was key. The distribution design from Foxon, F. (2001) mentioned many
statements about it stopping boredom and fatigue. He was right, being able to
have fun talking between shots, made the game very enjoyable, but at the same
time beneficial as I used mental rehearsal in these breaks. And stop fatigue
from effecting my form
