Session 2 - Form Shooting - April 4th
Design of Session:
Form
Shooting Babcock, R. (N/A).
`1. Form
Shooting (without the ball) Take imaginary shots and watch your form via mirror
or video. Start the drill slow, then speed up.
2. Form
Shooting (with the ball) The same as before, but implement a basketball, watch
the rotation of the ball and your follow through,
3.Flip
Drill – Stand right next to the basket and shoot with one
hand. Do
not use legs. Focus on your form, primarily the movement from the wrist and
follow through. Keep eyes on the target and aim for swishes.
4. Finish
with close range shots
This session will
follow a Fixed Practice Design based on the following text: Schmiguel (2015).
The movement skill will be frequently practiced in an environment that will not
change. Which will help the consistency of learning, but also reduce pressure
when learning the skill.References Informing Design:

Reflection:
Babacock, R. (N/A). The information retrieved from Babacock, was crucial
to the development of my skill. I felt that learning the technique seemed easy
to learn, however I found the first through drills boring and that it dragged
on, which lead to some cases of not putting a full effort into technique
(Babacock expresses full extension and flick in the wrist). I did not have my
skilled basketball friend who could critique and evaluate my form, so I used my
own understanding to critique myself, which may be risky. I did have a
sensation that the drill was working however, which pushed me to carry it on.
Shemiguel. (2015). Design of a fixed practice, fitted this training session
perfectly. I could practice the movement constantly without fail. However, it
was boring for me.
